Goa CM urges school picnics at science institutes, not beaches | Pune Media

He suggested such visits would inspire students, fostering a greater interest in science and technology, and highlighted Goa’s top performance in coding and robotics. PANAJI: Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday urged schools to adopt a shift in school picnic destinations, urging them to visit science institutions like the National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) and the National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR) etc., instead of beaches. Sawant made the appeal during the inauguration of the Science film festival of India (SCIFFI) 2025 in Panaji.
He said that such visits would inspire and educate students, sparking a greater interest in science and technology. He suggested exposing students to scientific environments would further nurture their interest and skills in these crucial fields.
Speaking on Goa’s role in coding and robotics, Sawant pointed out the achievement of Goan students. “Out of 100 students selected in coding and robotics in India, 22 students are Goans. Goa is therefore one of the top-performing states in coding compared to other states,” he said.
