This Is Maine Horror Icon Stephen King’s No. 1 Rated Movie

Maine and Stephen King go hand in hand, but that’s not always the case when it comes to critics and audiences toward his films.

And it’s not surprising.

There have been countless instances where the critics and the audience have provided drastically different scores for a film on Rotten Tomatoes.

Movie Critics vs Audiences

“Star Wars: The Last Jedi” stirred up huge controversy, especially as the movie garnered a fresh 91% rating from critics but a not-so-hot 41% from audiences.

Or look at Maine native Patrick Dempsey’s romantic comedy “Sweet Home Alabama.” Critics skewered that feature with a measly 38% while audiences enjoyed it much more at 78%.

And look, your love of a film may be different than your friend or sibling or, yes, even a movie reviewer. It happens. And their score doesn’t mean you should love yours any less.

Sometimes the audiences and critics are so far apart that it’s jarring, and yet sometimes they seem to both pick up similar responses (good or bad.)

Stephen King’s Best Movie

When it comes to Stephen King, the No. 1-rated film based on critics and audiences ultimately reveals two different movies.

But here’s the real positive, the critic ratings and audience ratings on Rotten Tomatoes are not so far apart for both No. 1 movies. So, at the very least, even though there is a different “best” movie according to critics and audiences, there’s not a huge gap between the two.

You can put away the pitchforks and instead celebrate two well-received movies.

According to the critics, the 1976 film “Carrie” takes the top spot with a stellar 94%. And the audience wasn’t far behind either, with a 77% rating.

As for the audience No. 1 movie? That would be the coming-of-age “Stand By Me” with the high-rated 94%, while the critic score is just a hair away at 92%.

Overall, both were well-regarded movies, but do you agree that either of them should take the crown as the best Stephen King movie?

What would you place at the top and call the No. 1 movie?
