Kishore terms Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava ‘divisive’, ‘propoganda’; explains why he rejected Aurangzeb’s role
Acting may be his bread and butter, but one thing that actor Kishore is clear about is that his choices will not be at the cost of causing discomfort to anyone. During a recent promotional interview for his upcoming Kannada film Anamadheya Ashok Kumar, Kishore was in discussion with Kairam Vaashi, when he spoke about the need for comfort at the workplace. While on the topic, Kishore said that if he were to collaborate with someone who represents a different ideology, he’d be visibly uncomfortable.
Having said that, Kishore adds that when, say, filmmakers with differing ideologies approached him, they have always refrained from influencing his thought process and respected his personality and choices. As an extension to that, the actor added that he recently rejected a role in the upcoming Hindi historical film Chhaava. Kishore was offered the role of Aurangzeb, which is now being done by Akshaye Khanna.
Kishore: Chhaava is targeting a certain minority community; did not like it
“It’s a typical propaganda film; when they told me the story I realized this. I declined the offer to play Aurangzeb in the film because I did not like it. My reasoning was that if they are looking at depicting history, would it be possible for them to do so as is and would our audiences remember that it is history and leave it at that? Both are not possible, so you are definitely targeting a certain minority community. Why should I, knowingly or unknowingly, be a part of such a divisive project?” he reasons.

Kishore believes that audiences have supported him through his 2-decades long career to work as a responsible human being. As such, for the sake of making money or to spread someone else’s propaganda, he doesn’t see the necessity to do work that will trouble a section of people. “I was not a part of the film and I am happy about it,” he said.
