Tata Motors Will Launch 400,000 EV Charging Stations Across India By 2027 – Trak.in

Over the next two years, India’s top EV manufacturer, Tata Motors, plans to more than double its number of charging stations to 400,000.

Concerns regarding EV range and insufficient charging infrastructure, which have hampered EV adoption, are intended to be addressed by this expansion.

Tata Motors To Double Charging Stations To 400,000

30,000 new public charging stations will be installed by Tata Motors and charger operators Tata Power and Statiq.

Within two years, the initiative aims to establish a verified “Mega Charger” network in 500 locations.

EVs from other manufacturers will be able to use the 120-kilowatt fast-charging stations that make up the “Mega Charger” network.

Range anxiety and a lack of charging options were the main issues for EVs, which made up only 2.5 percent of India’s 4 million cars sold in 2024.

By 2030, the Indian government wants EV sales to account for 30% of all automobile sales.

The government has announced a 20 billion rupee ($230 million) incentive program for the installation of public fast-charging stations in order to support this goal.

Due to a lack of extensive public charging infrastructure, the majority of EV users in India currently rely on home charging.

Tata Motors’ Next EV Promises 500 Kms Range With Single Charge

Tata Motors is revolutionizing the EV market by committing to a minimum range of 500 km for its new passenger electric vehicles (EVs). Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, highlighted the significance of range in maintaining their market leadership, with Tata Motors currently accounting for half of India’s passenger EV sales.

Enhanced Range Achievements

The recently launched Nexon EV demonstrates Tata Motors’ progress, featuring:

Battery Capacity: 45 kWh

Range: 489 km (an upgrade from the previous model’s 325 km range)

The upcoming Curvv model is poised to achieve the 500 km target, showcasing Tata’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of EV technology.
