HJC Sports announces partnership with DC Rainmaker

HJC Sports has announced an exclusive partnership with Ray and Bobbie Maker, the husband and wife team behind DC Rainmaker – one of the industry’s biggest independent tech reviewers.

With the DC Rainmaker website becoming a ‘go-to’ for sports tech reviews and more than half a million YouTube subscribers, DC Rainmaker has become one of the most trusted and influential sports tech reviewers.

Long-term fans become brand partners

Bobbie Maker – 2024 Kona qualified Triathlete and former professional footballer – is a long-term user of HJC’s cycling helmets, so this official partnership – effective immediately – is a natural extension of this. Ray has also been using HJC helmets for a number of months now.

HJC helmets will be used across both DC Rainmaker’s written review site as well as YouTube channel, and other social media avenues.

Sharing the news via social media, Richard Todd, HJC sales and brand director Europe, comments, “We’re excited to work with DC Rainmaker, someone whose work in the tech reviewing space has quietly benefitted all users of tech in the sports space.

“Ray and Bobbie’s expertise in testing and reviewing cycling gear has earned them a huge loyal following, and their commitment to user-friendly product design, as well as their ‘real world’ user status, is very attractive, providing a great feedback loop. This partnership will enable us to connect with a broader, tech-savvy audience while reinforcing our dedication to performance and safety.”

Teaming up with one of cycling’s leading tech blogger

Ray Maker, a trusted figure in the world of sports technology for over a decade, had this to say about the new partnership: “I appreciate HJC’s approach to cycling, both in their products and their support of top-tier athletes. On the product side, their focus on innovation and putting out top-tier products for athletes is something I can get behind.

“Likewise, in their partnerships, it’s great to see a company that supports both men’s and women’s teams, as well as individual professional cyclists globally. As the father of three young daughters, I’m happy to see that not only can my kids wear HJC helmets now on their bikes, but for as long as they love cycling.

HJC UK distribution

Talking with Todd, there is also mention of a ‘pending announcement regarding UK distribution’. This comes as the industry begins to look toward spring, with the Classics season just around the corner, and a hope for blue skies and dry roads (sorry Paris-Roubaix fans) generating increased footfall for retailers.
