Ikea Launches In Delhi-NCR With Online Deliveries Only – Trak.in

After seven years in India, IKEA is expanding its presence with online deliveries in Delhi-NCR, marking a major milestone in its India strategy. This expansion will cater to the growing demand for IKEA’s products in Delhi, Gurugram, and Noida before the launch of its physical stores.

To streamline its supply chain, IKEA has partnered with Germany-based Rhenus Logistics and will operate from a 1.5 lakh sq. ft. warehouse in Gurugram. Online deliveries are expected to begin by early 2025.

IKEA’s Growing E-Commerce Footprint in India

Currently, IKEA’s online shopping platform serves only four states—Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Telangana—where it also has stores in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Navi Mumbai. The expansion into Delhi-NCR is a significant move, given that e-commerce already contributes nearly 30% of IKEA’s total sales in India.

Physical Stores Underway in Gurugram & Noida

Alongside its e-commerce expansion, IKEA is gearing up for its first offline stores in Delhi-NCR.

  • Gurugram Store: Expected to be the largest in Delhi-NCR, featuring a 4 lakh sq. ft. retail space and a 1,000-seater restaurant serving both Swedish and Indian cuisine.
  • Noida Store: Construction began in September 2024, with an expected opening by 2028. The store will be part of a Rs 850 crore, 12-acre project, including a nine-storey hotel, office towers, retail, dining, and entertainment spaces.

Delhi-NCR: A Strategic Market for IKEA

Delhi-NCR is India’s fastest-growing premium real estate market, making it an ideal expansion hub for IKEA. Rhenus Logistics highlighted that India has become the world’s fourth-largest furniture market, rising from tenth place just a decade ago.

With over 25 million visitors expected annually, IKEA’s entry into Delhi-NCR is set to boost employment, investment, and consumer access to its signature Scandinavian designs.
