Welspun Living Limited receives highest ESG rating in India’s textile, apparel, and luxury goods category in 2024

Home textiles business Welspun Living Limited has secured a total environmental, social, and governance (ESG) score of 83 in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment for 2024, making it the highest-ranked textile manufacturing company from India.

“We are incredibly proud of achieving the fourth position in the Textile, Apparel and Luxury Goods category globally in the S&P CSA with a score of 83 this year,” said Welspun Living Limited’s managing director and CEO Dipali Goenka, the Press Trust of India reported. “This accomplishment is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team, who continuously strive to integrate sustainable practices into every aspect of our business. At Welspun Living, we believe that responsible growth goes hand in hand with innovation and transparency, and we remain committed to leading the way in sustainable manufacturing and setting benchmarks in the industry.”

Welspun Living Limited scored an ESG rating of 66 in 2023 and improved by 26% over a year’s time. The business’ highest score for 2024 was environment at 85, followed by social at 84 and governance and economic at 79. Aiming to continue to improve its rating, Welspun Living Limited plans to focus on decarbonisation, water conservation, circular economy, and social empowerment.

“This remarkable improvement in our ESG score is a result of our efforts to address the company’s ESG risks holistically and build a future proof organisation,” said the business’ president and group head of sustainability Alok Mishra. “It’s a proof of our belief that economic growth and environmental stewardship can co-exist. The success re-energises us to continue working towards our long-term vision of creating impact-driven solutions for a better world.”

The S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment reviews companies’ sustainability practices on an annual basis. Operating since 1999, the organisation covers more than 10,000 companies globally.
