This Electric Car By MG Motors Sells 13,000: India’s Best Selling Electric Car – Trak.in

On 19 February, the JSW MG Motor India  announced the new milestone achieved by the MG Windsor as it has crossed the production milestone of 15,000 units. 

MG Windsor Emerged As The Best-selling Electric Car In India 

MG Windsor was earlier launched in India in September 2024.

The said model has emerged as the best-selling electric car in the country for four consecutive months from October 2024 till January 2025.

 Windsor continues to receive approximately 200 bookings per day and that the capacity at the Halol facility is being increased to meet the growing demand, MG said.

The Deputy Managing Director, JSW MG Motor India, Biju Balendran said, “… we are increasing the capacity of the facility at Halol to meet the rising demand for Windsor. Additionally, we are undertaking certain facility modifications to ensure readiness for new products under MG Select, which is due for launch in the first half of this year. Hence, we anticipate a production slowdown during February, which may temporarily affect our wholesales during this period.” 

Considering its popularity, the modal has garnered sales of 13,322 units in four months. 

MG Windsor Pricing & Variants

When it comes to the MG Windsor, it is offered in three variants including Excite, Exclusive and Essence. 

The Excite is priced at  Rs 13,99,800, while Exclusive is offered at Rs 14,99,800 followed by Essence at Rs 15,99,800. Please note here that all these prices are ex-showroom.

Moving ahead, this EV can be had under JSW MG’s Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model as well.

Its prices are given as below.

Excite – Rs 9,99,800 + battery rental @ Rs 3.9/km

Exclusive – Rs 10,99,800 + battery rental @ Rs 3.9/km

Essence – Rs 11,99,800 + battery rental @ Rs 3.9/km

The MG Windsor is paired with a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a 38kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, which is IP67-rated. 

This motor can develop 136PS of maximum power and 200Nm of peak torque.

Further , this motor has ARAI-certified range on a single full charge of 332km.

It comes with four driving modes including Eco+, Eco, Normal and Sport.

Now, the car maker seems to be all set to launch the MG Cyberster and the MG M9 in India. 

Both of these models will be retailed via the MG Select channel.

Besides this, the company has appointed 12 MG Select dealer partners across India. 

With the help of these dealers, partners will open 14 MG Select experience centres (touchpoints) in 13 cities during the first phase of expansion.
