Watch Gucci’s new short film featuring French dance crew La Marche Bleue

Usually when fashion houses release a project focused on movement, we only see a final version which is polished to perfection. But what happens before we get there? To mark the launch of Gucci’s new cub3d trainer, the Italian house tapped Dazed Studio to produce a campaign highlighting the beauty in practice and repetition when gearing up for a final performance. Inspired by the idea “It’s not how they move, it’s what moves them,” the project is aptly titled Dance Me Out and gives a glimpse into the process behind the performance – when an artist lets go and their instincts take over, every misstep becomes part of their work.

To bring this vision to life, Gucci enlisted the Paris-based dancer and choreographer Léo Walk, who is known for his fluid, genre-blending movement. As the founder of La Marche Bleue, Walk has built a reputation for reinterpreting dance while weaving street styles with classical techniques. “When I dance by myself in my living room, I know [dancing is] something that is vital. I feel like I’m exorcising something or freeing myself of a weight,” Walk says.

Alongside him, two dancers from his troupe – Hortense de Gromard and Mamadou Bathily – bring their own unique energy, their movements reflecting the moments of freedom and introspection that come with rehearsal. “[Leo] brought me a fluidity that I would say is a little more poetic in my dance and it softens it and brings a sweetness I had when I was younger,” explains Bathily. While de Gromard says: “When I dance alone, I’m trying to find a freedom to express myself and go and experience new things.”

Styled by Gerry O’Kane, the campaign unfolds through a campaign film and a documentary, all soundtracked by the hypnotic pulse of “Move Your Body” by Xpansions. The film captures Walk and his dancers immersed in their world, caught in the loops of repetition, refining their craft until movement becomes second nature.

At the heart of it all is Gucci’s cub3d sneaker, a bold new statement in the House’s footwear line-up. A fusion of technical design and contemporary aesthetics, the shoe mirrors the campaign’s themes: movement, innovation, and the constant push toward something greater. Worn effortlessly by the dancers, the Gucci cub3d becomes an extension of their craft, carrying them through the process, from the first steps to the final performance.
