A new survey conducted by Music Fans’ Voice shows almost unanimous support for a proposed £1 ticket levy on stadium and arena shows.
93% of music fans in the UK agreed that £1 from every ticket sold for large-scale events should go toward grassroots music venues, per a new fan-led review.
Of the 8,000 people who took part in the survey, more than 30% make up the 18-35-year-old bracket, while more than 40% are aged between 25-54-years-old.

Last March, a panel of representatives from Live Music Exchange (LIVE), Music Venue Trust and National Arenas Association gathered in front of the Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee to discuss the ticket levy initiative.
Creative Industries Minister Sir Chris Bryant later called on the live music industry to introduce the levy, urging venues to take action “as soon as possible”, ideally starting in 2025.

The survey also found that 99% of participants believe live music events are an important part of UK culture, while 7 in 10 people said that they enjoy supporting their local music scene.
Just 9% of the 8,000 participants in the Music Fans’ Voice study said they go to nightclubs monthly, with 32% claiming to never attend nightclubs.
It also looks at the impact of venue closures across the UK, noting that 58% of participants have experienced the loss of a significant venue or nightclub locally since 2020.
