The 2025 NFL Combine has officially kicked off with head coaches and general managers talking to the media. I was able to cover Wednesday’s press conference live with media credentials, which then allowed me to ask Mike Macdonald and Kevin Stefanski a few dynasty fantasy football-related questions.
Having a prominent role in your offense is absolutely crucial for finding success in dynasty fantasy football. Being talented is great, but if you want to win a championship, you need to score points. Typically, these coaches won’t directly say that player X is going to get more targets or carries, but the responses they give can be very telling. Pair that with the information I’ve heard from around the media and you’ll find yourself with potential league-winning advice.
Expect DK Metcalf to Lead the Seahawks in Targets
When talking to Macdonald, I asked him what kind of role he hopes to see DK Metcalf in for 2025 after finishing second in targets. Macdonald would respond to this by saying that Metcalf was near the top of the league in targets in week seven and alluded to injuries being the reason Jaxon Smith-Njigba passed him up. At only 27 years old, this would make a ton of sense, as Metcalf has been the team’s dominant WR1 for years prior. Metcalf has scored over 14 PPG in his last 3/5 seasons in the NFL, making his WR28 price tag on Keep Trade Cut too low.
The Seahawks Won’t Have a Bellcow Running Back
If you’re expecting big things out of Zach Charbonnet next season, I’d pump the brakes. Despite only mentioning Kenneth Walker and Charbonnet, Macdonald snuck in the fact that Kenny McIntosh can play all three downs well. Despite having a career-high 16.5 PPG, Walker only played in 11 games, ran for seven touchdowns and caught 46 passes.
Charbonnet had eight touchdowns and 42 receptions last year and that’s without McIntosh playing much of a role at all. With Macdonald saying “It’s going to be fun to see how the reps shake out throughout the year and the roles we have for them,” it makes me think that each back will be limited to an extent by their specific role. Expect a Bounce Back Season For Cedric Tillman
Cedric Tillman had a really nice stretch of games from weeks 7-9. In that span, Tillman had 22.2 PPG, putting on a show each week. Tillman was the Browns former third-round draft pick in 2023, so it was expected that he would be a plus contributor at some point.
Unfortunately, Tillman struggled with injuries, which Stefanski pointed out in his answer as well. Ultimately, when asked about Tillman’s role for 2025, Stefanski said that the injury took Tillman out of playing at a “really high level for us.” Stefanski clearly believes that Tillman is showing a lot of promise and wants to use him going forward. At his current KTC price of WR58, he’s a great buy. (Full interview)
