Uzbekistan and Afghanistan discuss $3bn trade target
Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, met with Afghan Minister of Commerce, Nuruddin Azizi, at the Termez International Trade Centre in the Surkhandarya region on March 1. The talks focused on expanding bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to increasing trade turnover to $3bn. They also discussed strengthening collaboration in key sectors, including agriculture, textiles, pharmaceuticals, food, and mining.
As part of the visit, a B2B session was held, bringing together around 60 entrepreneurs from each country. The event provided a platform for business representatives to establish new partnerships and explore joint projects and trade agreements.

In January 2025, trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan surged to $153.7mn, a rise from $46.3mn in 2024 and $52.7mn in 2023.
Exports climbed to $104.2mn, up from $45.5mn in 2024 and $52.4mn in 2023. Imports also saw a sharp increase, reaching $49.5mn in 2025, compared to just $0.8mn in 2024 and $0.3mn in 2023.
