Honda Cars India reaches 50,000 ADAS-enabled vehicles milestone, ET Auto
Honda was the first automaker in India to offer ADAS in manual transmission (MT) variants with the Honda City in 2023.
Honda Cars India has announced a milestone with 50,000 Honda vehicles equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) now on Indian roads.
This achievement marks a notable step towards the company’s global vision of ‘Safety for Everyone’ and its ambition to reduce traffic-related fatalities involving Honda vehicles by 2050, the company said in a media release.
Expansion of ADAS in Honda’s lineup
The ADAS technology, branded as Honda Sensing, was first introduced in India in May 2022 with the launch of the Honda City e:HEV. Since then, the company has expanded its ADAS offerings to other models, including the Honda City (March 2023), Honda Elevate (September 2023), and most recently, the Honda Amaze (December 2024).
The latest addition, the third-generation Honda Amaze, is now the most affordable ADAS-enabled car in India, making the advanced safety technology more accessible to a broader range of consumers, the company said.
Rising consumer demand
According to the company, over 60% of Elevate sales, 95% of City sales, and 30% of Amaze sales are accounted for by variants featuring Honda Sensing. Additionally, for those opting for ADAS-equipped models, half of the customers cited advanced safety features as the primary reason for their purchase decision.
Kunal Behl, Vice President, Marketing and Sales at Honda Cars India, said, “Achieving the milestone of 50,000 ADAS-enabled vehicles on Indian roads reflects our commitment to enhancing safety for all.”
“This achievement not only aligns with our global safety vision but also demonstrates the growing preference and acceptance of Indian consumers to advanced driver assistance technologies,” Behl added.
Honda was also the first automaker in India to offer ADAS in manual transmission (MT) variants with the Honda City in 2023. Currently, Honda Sensing is available as standard on the V, VX, and ZX grades of the City, the ZX grade of the Elevate, and the ZX grade of the Amaze, across both manual and continuously variable transmission (CVT) options.
