Louis Vuitton unveils make-up line with Pat McGrath as creative director

Beauty has always been part of Louis Vuitton’s legacy. Since its founding, the luxury brand has become synonymous with its monogrammed vanity cases, coveted it-girl bags and powder compacts, brushes and mirrors. Now, the maison is taking beauty one step further, launching its make-up line, La Beauté Louis Vuitton, set to arrive in Autumn 2025, with Mother and GOAT Dame Pat McGrath at the helm.

Appointed as the line’s creative director, McGrath, who has been backstage at Louis Vuitton shows for the past 20 years, worked on the product development of this line for the past four. The make-up artist has become known for consistently delivering show-stopping looks in the beauty sphere – think of all the Dior looks from the early 2000s or the Margiela Maison make-up that broke the internet last year and spawned a glass skin product – all while overseeing the running of her own eponymous brand, Pat McGrath Labs, since 2015.

The line is said to come as a “lifestyle beauty experience that extends beyond products.” With the debut range featuring 55 lipsticks, 10 lip balms and eight eye palettes, accompanied by leather accessories including lipstick cases and miniature trunks designed to house the products. McGrath sets the tone for the collection by sharing, “the beauty universe is about so much more than just product, and what we are creating here will unlock a new level in luxury beauty.”

Going into more depth, McGrath explained to British Vogue, “La Beauté Louis Vuitton is the absolute highest level of craftsmanship. With product development, I have always been obsessed with the smallest of details and the perfection needed in product texture… the precise application methods, just the right amount of pigment pay-off, and how products should make you feel.”

This news follows other recent moments from the brand that have seen Louis Vuitton continue to push creative boundaries. The luxury giant recently relaunched its celebrated Takashi Murakami collaboration, spotlighted stars like Lisa and Saoirse Ronan in its global campaigns, and even graced the latest cover of Dazed’s Spring 2025 issue.
