Vivo India’s ‘KanyaGyaan’ to bridge STEM gender gap, ET BrandEquity

Recognising the persistent gender gap in STEM fields, particularly among young women from underserved communities in India, Vivo India has launched “Vivo KanyaGyaan,” a nationwide initiative aimed at empowering women for careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

“Empowering young women in STEM isn’t just an initiative—it’s a necessity for real progress,” stated Geetaj Channana, head of corporate strategy, Vivo India. “Through the ‘Vivo KanyaGyaan’ initiative, we’re breaking barriers by providing education, mentorship, and opportunities that help them shape their own futures.”

To amplify the initiative’s impact, Vivo has launched a digital campaign, emphasizing the critical need for a diverse STEM workforce. The campaign highlights that when women are excluded, the nation loses significant scientific potential, envisioning a future where women can achieve their dreams and contribute to national progress.

Crafted by FCB India, the campaign film portrays the inspiring journeys of young women from various parts of India, using the powerful metaphor of “carrying their own chairs” to symbolize their determination. The film showcases the challenges they overcame and their aspirations in STEM, highlighting the importance of providing support and opportunities.
