Robert Pattinson Says He Hopes To Start Filming ‘The Batman’ Sequel Before He’s ‘Fucking Old Batman’

While recently speaking with his “Mickey 17” co-star Naomi Ackie for Hero magazine, Pattinson was asked to confirm whether he’ll “soon” suit up as the caped crusader again, to which the British actor replied, “I fucking hope so.”

“I started out as young Batman and I’m going to be fucking old Batman by the sequel,” he joked during the interview published Tuesday.

“I’m 38, I’m old,” Pattinson continued before adding, “I’m old, but I’m healthier. I think I’ve actually brought my biological age down a bit.”

“The Batman 2,” which was pushed back until Oct. 1, 2027 late last year, was originally scheduled to release Oct. 2, 2026. It has been delayed multiple times since being announced in 2022.

James Gunn, the co-CEO of DC Studios, defended the film’s delay in a post on Threads after fans expressed disappointment over the lengthy wait. He noted that large gaps between sequels are “fairly common.”

“To be fair, a 5 year gap or more is fairly common in sequels,” Gunn wrote. “7 years between Alien and Aliens. 14 years between Incredibles. 7 years between the first two Terminators. 13 years between Avatars. 36 years between Top Guns. And, of course, 6 years between Guardians Vol 2 and Vol 3.”
