Ai Deng joins BRG as managing director in Washington, DC

Ai Deng, PhD, has joined BRG, an Emeryville, CA-headquartered management consulting firm, as a managing director in the antitrust and competition group in Washington, DC.

Deng is an economist who specializes in antitrust issues that arise with new technologies such as artificial intelligence and blockchain.

He has nearly 20 years of experience in economic consulting, academic research, and project management. He has advised companies on major cartel, market manipulation, and monopolization cases and has worked with various US regulatory bodies on merger investigations, financial market manipulation, and other issues.

“Ai’s strong background in econometric tools will complement the work we do with proposed class action certification in antitrust matters. His multidisciplinary background and technical expertise also includes AI, machine learning and data science and will be invaluable to our clients navigating an increasingly complex regulatory landscape,” said David Sunding, vice chairman of BRG and leader of the antitrust and competition practice.

Deng was previously a principal at Charles River Associates, an associate director at NERA Economic Consulting, and a principal at Bates White Economic Consulting.

He has a PhD in economics and econometrics from Boston University and a bachelor’s degree in economics and marketing from Chongqing University in China.

TowerBrook Capital Partners last month announced the acquisition of a majority stake in BRG.

BRG was founded in 2010 and has 1,600+ employees across 45 global offices. The firm provides expert and consulting services in disputes and investigations, corporate finance, and performance improvement.
