The 20th edition of the International Association of Women in Radio & Television (IAWRT) Asian Women’s Film Festival kicked off at the India International Centre on Thursday. The festival will showcase 65 films from 21 Asian countries, all made by women, till March 8.
Panel discussions, masterclasses, and exhibitions on films are also scheduled for the next two days.
Aparna Sanyal, managing trustee of IAWRT’s India Chapter, said, “The festival goes beyond films. At the heart of it, we want to continue the discourse around films, feminism, and gender.”
Workshop for girls
Ms. Sanyal said a mobile film-making workshop was recently conducted in collaboration with Delhi’s Tourism Department for 10 underprivileged girls in the national capital.
The girls were subsequently felicitated, and their films were showcased during the opening ceremony on Thursday.
