Louis Vuitton Opens in Montreal’s Royalmount Luxury Destination

Louis Vuitton has opened a store in Montreal at the Royalmount, a new center that offers the city’s most extensive collection of luxury boutiques and is considered the largest private development in Quebec.

Vuitton joins Gucci, Tiffany, Jimmy Choo, Saint Laurent, Verace, Longchamp and several other designer and high-end brands, along with more moderate brands such as Zara, at the Royalmount. The lifestyle destination opened about half of its the retail space on Sept. 5 and will continue to open in phases.

The new Louis Vuitton at Royalmount offers “a full suite of the maison’s métiers,” including men’s and women’s accessories, leather goods, ready-to-wear and shoes from the fall 2024 collections, as well as fine jewelry, fragrance, gifting, publishing and travel offerings. Both seasonal and timeless styles are carried, and hot stamping and engraving services are available to customize leather goods and fragrance bottles with individuals’ initials.

“Louis Vuitton’s most recherché categories, such as bespoke bags with exotic finishes and iconic hard-sided trunks, outfit the store for the opening celebrations to showcase the complete Louis Vuitton universe,” the company said in its announcement on the opening.

The Louis Vuitton store’s two-toned limestone facade references the maison’s emblematic Damier pattern created by Louis Vuitton himself in 1888. According to the brand, it is the only Louis Vuitton store in North America to feature such construction. “Inside, the warm and inviting interiors are amplified by decor that references natural materials, like petrified wood, shell and stone,” the company said. “These subtle touches offset an outstanding curated selection of bold contemporary art focused on colorful abstractions. Throughout the store, brilliant custom pieces by Lautaro Cuttica, Heidi Spector and Benna Holden enliven the showrooms.”

There is also a work by Canadian artist Jonathan Forrest that uses transparent layers of acrylics to build a fluid rainbow-hued chevron. In contrast, century-old ephemera like advertisements and catalogue entries from the Louis Vuitton archive in Paris are “reborn as fine art” inside the store, the company said. With its heritage for fine craftsmanship, Louis Vuitton typically opens its doors to architects, artists and designers.

Vuitton’s Royalmount location, which opened Monday, is the luxury brand’s third freestanding location in Canada. The other two are on Bloor Street in Toronto and in Vancouver. Additionally Vuitton has shops inside Holt Renfrew stores across the country.

Royalmount also offers diverse culinary offerings and cultural programming, a grand public art walk and a host of amenities including concierge and valet services, luggage storage and a wine bar. Located in Montreal’s midtown, Royalmount is a 100 percent carbon-neutral, mixed-use project and Canada’s largest LEED Gold retail development.
