The electric vehicle market in India has been growing by the day. We have seen international and Indian manufacturers invest heavily into the Indian market. There are some very plausible options for all sorts of budgets in the Indian market and there are many more to come.
EVs are definitely the future of the automobile industry. Even though the cars have been getting better and better they are still not up to the convenience of what ICE cars offer. There are many upcoming electric vehicles in India which look quite promising. Here are 5 upcoming electric vehicles in the Indian market that you should be excited about.
1: MG Windsor EV
MG will be launching its Windsor EV in the Indian market on September 11, 2024. It is going to be small premium hatchback which will slot under the MG ZS EV and slot above the MG Comet. Currently there are only a few details of the Indian spec vehicle but we expect it to have nearly 500 km of estimated range.
2: Maruti Suzuki eVX
The Maruti Suzuki eVX is one of the most anticipated EVs in India. It will be Maruti Suzuki’s first fully electric vehicle. It will supposedly have 500 kms of range and have a 66 kWh battery. The eVX will debut next year and Maruti Suzuki has already been testing the vehicle quite extensively.
3: Mahindra XUV.e8
The Mahindra XUV.e8 will the first all electric vehicle produced on the INGLO platform. It will be very similar to their flagship SUV, the XUV7OO. Even though it will be similar in dimensions, the INGLO platform is specifically designed for electric vehicles. Mahindra will showcase the production version of the XUV.e8 at the end of 2024.
4: Audi Q6 E-Tron
The Audi Q6 E-Tron will be launched in India by the end of this year. It is one of the newer electric vehicles which has been designed as an EV from the ground up. The Q6 E-Tron has an estimated range of 641 kms in its long range variant. We expect the car to be launched with a starting price of Rs 1 crore (ex-showroom) in the Indian market.
5: Kia EV9
Kia will launch its flagship electric SUV in India on October 3, 2024. It will be one of the few 7-seater SUVs on offer and will launch alongside the Carnival. Currently, Kia only has EV6 on sale in India and will add the EV9 as the flagship. We expect the EV9 to cost more than 1 crore (ex-showroom) in India.
