Prime Minister of Mongolia expresses readiness to implement energy reform with World Bank

AKIPRESS.COM – Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene Luvsannamsrai met with World Bank Country Director for China, the Republic of Korea and Mongolia Mara Warwick and Country Manager Taehyun Lee. They discussed the cooperation between the government of Mongolia and the World Bank.

The Prime Minister thanked the World Bank for the cooperation, which has contributed to the development of Mongolian economy, and said that the joint government action plan for 2024-2028 has been approved.

“It is planned to implement 14 development projects and 14 socio-economic reforms. In particular, the energy reform will be carried out in the near future. We need the support of professional experts. We propose to cooperate with the World Bank in this regard,” he said.

The World Bank expressed willingness to cooperate on all aspects of the joint government’s goals and policy priorities, including energy reform, climate change and disaster preparedness, and economic diversification and competitiveness.

Mara Warwick praised the Mongolian government for prioritizing human development and said they could work together to empower civil servants. She added that the Mongolian government should develop a comprehensive cooperation plan with the World Bank.

The parties also noted that they attach great importance to the preparation of projects and activities planned for joint implementation.
