J-Hope earns his first No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart with Sweet Dreams, selling 14,500 … More copies and becoming a 10-time top 10 soloist on the tally. J-Hope has been a bestselling K-pop soloist for years, just like many of his BTS bandmates. While he’s dropped tracks that have sold well and debuted high on numerous charts, one specific honor had eluded him. With his latest single, he finally hits a new high on one of Billboard’s most competitive charts, thanks to the loyal fan base that continues to support everything he touches.
J-Hope Hits No. 1
The South Korean superstar’s latest tune, “Sweet Dreams,” launches at No. 1 on this week’s Digital Song Sales chart. The list ranks the bestselling tracks of any genre across the United States, and at the moment, J-Hope controls the top spot with ease.
According to Luminate, “Sweet Dreams” sold 14,500 copies in its first frame. That total is more than enough for the BTS member to land his first No. 1 on the purchase-only tally. It’s not even close, as the song nearly triples the sum earned by its closest competitor.
Last week’s ruler, “Pink Pony Club” by Chappell Roan, slips to No. 2. The newly-crowned Grammy winner still maintains a strong position, but her tune sold just 6,000 copies in the past tracking period — less than half of what “Sweet Dreams” managed.
“Sweet Dreams” Is J-Hope’s Tenth Top 10
While this is the first time J-Hope has ruled the Digital Song Sales chart, it’s hardly his first major success on the tally. “Sweet Dreams” marks his tenth appearance inside the top 10, a major milestone for any solo star.
Altogether, J-Hope has sent 18 tracks to the ranking. That figure doesn’t even take into account his wins with BTS, which helped turn him into one of the most successful acts of all time on this chart.
J-Hope Has Come Close to No. 1Before
This new victory has been a long time coming. Before hitting No. 1, J-Hope had peaked at No. 2 on the Digital Song Sales chart with three different tracks. Two of those near-misses arrived in 2022, when “Arson” and “More” both narrowly missed out on the throne.
In 2023, he teamed up with J. Cole for “On the Street.” That collaboration also stalled at No. 2, but it remains one of his most successful efforts to date. Not only did it come close to the top, it also managed to stick around the chart for four weeks.
