National Seismological Center says that the epicenter of the earthquake was in Myanmar. Where an earthquake of 7.2 magnitude was recorded on the Richter scale. But its tremors were felt till Delhi NCR. This information has also been given on the Bhookamp app. However, there is no information yet as to whether there has been any loss of life or property due to this.

According to reports, the first jolt was at 5:36 am and the second at 8:02 am. The epicentre of the second jolt was Siwan in Bihar. The jolt was so strong that people came out of their houses. People in Mathura, Agra, Meerut, Saharanpur and Moradabad were terrified. People said that the whole house started shaking, it felt like they were walking in a train compartment and a strong jolt was being felt.

Tremors in Thailand

Tremors were felt as far away as areas in northern and central Thailand and terrifying videos circulating on X showed buildings shaking and people running out onto the streets in panic.

One particularly horrifying video showed a skyscraper, with an infinity pool, rocking and the water from the pool falling over the edge.

“I heard it and I was sleeping in the house, I ran as far as I could in my pyjamas out of the building,” Duangjai, a resident of popular tourist city Chiang Mai, told AFP.

Meanwhile Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his concerns. He said, “Concerned by the situation in the wake of the Earthquake in Myanmar and Thailand. Praying for the safety and wellbeing of everyone. India stands ready to offer all possible assistance. In this regard, asked our authorities to be on standby. Also asked the MEA to remain in touch with the Governments of Myanmar and Thailand.”
