The Big 12 Conference announced its annual postseason Wrestling awards on Friday morning. In awards based on coaches’ votes, Utah Valley’s Terrell Barraclough was named Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Joining Barraclough with the annual awards was Oklahoma State’s Wyatt Hendrickson, named Wrestler of the Year, and Northern Iowa head coach Doug Schwab, named Coach of the Year.
“Terrell being recognized by the Big 12 Conference as the Scholar-Athlete of the Year is a testament to his excellence off the mat,” said UVU head coach Adam Hall. “He has served as a great representative of our program all year, and I’m glad his efforts in the classroom are recognized. His 4.0 GPA in the MBA program demonstrates his dedication to being the best version of himself. Although he only spent one year with us, he leaves the school as one of the all-time great student-athletes.”
Barraclough balanced excellence on both the mat and the classroom. He finished the 2024-2025 season with a 32-4 record while becoming Utah Valley’s sixth All-American in school history. The Kaysville, Utah native is completing his Master of Business Administration in UVU’s Woodbury School of Business. The program is one of the most challenging academic programs at UVU.
This season, Barraclough took home third place at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational and Big 12 Championships. He went a perfect 14-0 in duals and finished 14-3 against all Big 12 competition. His season wrapped up with a fifth-place finish at the 2025 NCAA Championships, where he made the quarterfinals before going through the consolation rounds to defeat Stanford’s No. 7 Hunter Garvin in the fifth-place match.
Utah Valley wrestling strongly emphasizes classroom development. The team finished the 2024 Fall Semester with a cumulative 3.50 GPA, the highest term GPA in the program since 2009.
