New Delhi: Kia India’s Sr. Vice President and National Head Marketing & Sales, Hardeep Sing Brar addressed the TV9 Network’s ‘What India Thinks Today Global Summit 2025’ on Saturday and talked about how in the product cycle of new technology, how much of the product development goes into what the market demands and how much the manufacturer wants to push as new tech to the consumers.

Addressing the summit, Hardeep Singh Brar said, “I think it happened both ways. I think sometimes you need to find the latent demand in the consumers, what they may not have thought of but what you think will work for them, right? And simultaneously, you know, you’re working on certain technologies. For example, if you look at EVs, I think EVs is lot driven by the government push.”

Hardeep Singh Brar also talked about how the Indian government also started encouraging carbon neutrality a decade back and that they need to look at the long term vision of the company and also the government. He said, “I think everybody has been talking about carbon neutrality and EVs will play a major role in the future of mobility. EVs are the true zero emission vehicles, right? While there has been discussion about hybrid, and some of the OEMs have been able to find out that, but I think looking at the long term perspective, I think EVs are the way forward, because hybrids may be able to reduce it by a certain percentage, but if you really want to go quicker to carbon neutrality, I think electric is the only way forward. So it’s both, you know, the push and the pull, which we have to look at.”

Talking about Kia’s electric mobility plans and their future products, Hardeep Singh Brar also discussed about the upcoming products. He said that Kia is working on 14 electric vehicles with investment of about $20 billion and Kia has already launched two of its flagship EVs in India and they are also looking to launch 12 more vehicles out of which one is scheduled for launch in the middle of this year, around June-July and another electric vehicle which will make debut sometime early next year. Hardeep Singh Brar said that “the response has been phenomenal with their EVs and the Kia EV6 was declared the world car of the year in 2023 while the same happened for the EV9 in 2024.”

Kia recently showcased some of its future electric products on 27th of February showcasing their global plans and celebrated Kia EV day. Kia India will bring us both global models and also home grown products which are developed especially with Indian customers in mind. The hint towards the new EVs is what we believe to be the next generation of the Carens which could also get an EV model and also the all electric version of the Syros which we believe looks similar to the EV2 that was showcased at the Kia EV day.
