Harvard scientist fears persecution if deported to Russia
A Russian scientist who works at Harvard Medical School and has spoken out against the war in Ukraine faces persecution if she is deported from the US to Moscow, her friends and colleagues have warned.
Kseniia Petrova, who supported calls for President Putin to be impeached, was detained on arrival at Boston airport last month after returning from a personal visit to France. Her visa was revoked after immigration officials found she was carrying undeclared frog embryos.
“[On] February 16, Kseniia was returning from a trip in France and never made it home,” said Cora Anderson, her friend and colleague at the medical school, in a Facebook post.
