Morocco unveils exciting innovations for GITEX Africa Morocco 2025

Morocco’s Minister of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, Amal El Fellah Seghrouchni, unveiled on Friday the main features of the upcoming third edition of GITEX Africa Morocco 2025, which is set to take place from April 14 to 16 in Marrakech, under the directives of King Mohammed VI.

Seghrouchni said that Morocco’s selection as host of this continental event—an annual platform showcasing Africa’s digital and technological potential— “is the result of continuous efforts to position the kingdom as a regional digital hub.”

She highlighted that “the event also reflects the royal directives to develop specialized human capital in digital fields, promote digitalization as a culture across all segments of society, and establish robust technological infrastructure to keep pace with rapid advancements.”

The minister recalled the king’s call to accelerate Africa’s digital transformation to bridge the gap with advanced economies and capitalize on the global digital boom.

The event, an extension of GITEX Global—which has been hosted in the United Arab Emirates for 42 years—also aims to strengthen Africa’s role in the global technology landscape by focusing on digital infrastructure, AI advancements, and cutting-edge innovations, she said.

This year’s edition is expected to attract over 45,000 visitors from 130 countries, 1,400 exhibiting companies & startups, over 350 investors, more than 660 speakers, and over 650 government entities.

Key features of the 2025 GITEX edition:

Among the key additions this year is the Future Coverage Summit for Africa, a platform bringing together major players in telecommunications, cloud computing, and data centers, announced the Minister.

She said that the summit will explore broadband expansion, 5G rollout, and cloud developments while fostering public-private partnerships to shape Africa’s digital future.

Seghrouchni also announced the launch of the African Diaspora Studio, a dedicated space to connect African talent worldwide, attract investment, facilitate cross-border partnerships, and promote knowledge transfer between African tech pioneers abroad and local ecosystems.

The minister reaffirmed Morocco’s commitment to developing GITEX Africa Morocco, in line with its vision to establish itself as a leading digital hub in Africa.

The event will bring together government officials, regulatory bodies, and industry leaders to discuss AI governance, digital regulations, and innovation policies shaping the continent’s future.

She also announced that the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the World Bank’s private sector financing arm, is joining GITEX Africa as a strategic partner in economic development.

The SheWins Africa initiative, launched by the IFC, will also be featured at the event, revealed the Minister, aiming to empower women-led startups, strengthen their role in Africa’s digital economy, and promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth across the continent.

A global opportunity for startups:

Mohammed Drissi Melyani, Director General of Digital Development Agency Agency (ADD), emphasized that this event marks the third consecutive opportunity for startups and young talents to engage with the global innovation stage, expanding internationally, and showcasing their innovative solutions.

For institutions, businesses, and economic operators, Melyane highlighted that “GITEX 2025 offers a chance to discover cutting-edge solutions, forge strategic partnerships, and create bridges with international ecosystems, aiming for better positioning and the sharing of experiences in a win-win agreement.”

He said that GITEX Africa Morocco is more than just a trade show. “It’s is now a true continental crossroads, a strategic platform for Africa, driven by Morocco.”

Following the success of the previous two editions and the connections made during the event, he revealed that 84% of exhibitors have expressed interest in establishing or expanding operations in Morocco and Africa.

In 2024, the event hosted over 1,500 exhibitors from 130 countries, including 680 startups from 56 countries, 200 of which were Moroccan through the Morocco 200 program. More than 350 investors attended, 70% of whom came from abroad. Furthermore, 96% of visitors expressed their intention to return in 2025.

Melyani emphasized that this dynamic was reflected in over 660 memorandums of understanding signed on-site, 16,621 scheduled meetings, and over 1,000 meetings between startups and investors.

After two successful editions, the Director General of ADD stated Morocco’s participation in the third edition is both ambitious and strategic.

The Morocco 200 program will support 200 selected startups with funding and global networking opportunities, while a dedicated E-Gov space will showcase digital services from over 25 ministries, highlighting the country’s commitment to innovation, transformation, and modernization.

Celebrating Digital Morocco 2030 strategy:
