Building 21 in ASD to begin focusing on preparing students for careers in AI, computer science; public invited to submit suggestions for school’s new name | Allentown Area

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – A high school in the Allentown School District will soon begin a “transformative journey” to become a “theme-based high school,” according to a Facebook post from the district.

Beginning in the 2025-2026 school year, Building 21 High School will begin transitioning to a “future-focused learning environment” that aims to prepare students for careers in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Computer Science & Allied Health.

The district says the transition will occur in phases, with the initial phase in the 2025-2026 academic year introducing a selection of courses in computer science.

Building 21 High School will also be receiving a new name that reflects its focus on the high-demand industries, the district said in its Facebook post.

The district says it is now inviting students, parents, guardians, staff, alumni, and community members to participate in the process by submitting suggestions for the new name of the school here.

“We encourage you to think creatively and propose names that are inspiring, relevant to Artificial Intelligence, Medical & Health Sciences, and Computer Science, and representative of the forward-thinking vision for our school,” according to a news release from the district.
