Hyatt Hotels plans to introduce its all-inclusive resorts to India breaking new ground in the branded hospitality segment in the country.

Typically established brands offer only bed and breakfast plans at their hotels and resorts in India. Guests can get complimentary access to pools or gym but have to pay for their meals and drinks.

Under all inclusive models, stay, food and beverage is covered along with experiences and events.

Hyatt Hotels runs all inclusive resorts in Mexico, Caribbean and in Europe. In recent years it has expanded its presence in the segment globally with a slew of acquisitions. Its most recent acquisition includes $2.6 billion purchase of Playa Hotels & Resorts.

Now, Hyatt wants to bring its all-inclusive Ziva and Zilara resorts in India to tap leisure the travel demand and widen its customer base.

“ I am convinced India is ready for the all inclusive model. It resonates with the Indian mindset,” said Sunjae Sharma, Managing Director, Hyatt (India and South West Asia). Sharma added that Hyatt is looking for partners to launch the Ziva and Zilara brands in India.

Besides the all-inclusive resorts Hyatt Hotels is keen to grow its India portfolio in the luxury, leisure and lifestyle segments by expanding the Alila brand and launching the Standard brand in the country.

Double digit growth

This development push comes as Hyatt Hotels continues to witness double digit growth in India. Like others in the space, the US-headquartered hotel chain is benefitting from strong domestic demand, limited inventory and an increase in room rates. Around 70-80 per cent of its guests are Indians as inbound tourism is yet to pick up.

“2024 was a great year for us in India and 2025 will be even better,” Sharma said pointing to higher number of auspicious dates for weddings and demand for meetings and events.

Last year the hotel chain signed deals for 21 hotels across the country. Currently it runs 52 hotels and this year it expects to open seven properties (six in India and one in Nepal) increasing its regional portfolio to 59 hotels and around 11,500 rooms.

Alongside new openings, the hotel chain is building its presence through greater focus on loyalty and marketing campaigns. These include initiatives such exclusive access for its loyalty members to events at Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre in Mumbai and a reward programme for event planners.

While individual properties have their own accounts, Hyatt Hotels launched an India-instragram page last December. The page has garnered over 500,000 plus followers surpassing others in this space and is helping us creating brand stickiness and loyalty, Sharma added.
