Beacon Academy continues to thrive in science and math, with over 25% of students participating in extracurricular STEM activities. This year, the Science Olympiad team earned 63 medals and the Spirit Award at Regionals, advancing to the state competition at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign on April 12.

Coach Chris Swan highlighted the team’s well-rounded strengths: “The Spirit Award honors not just performance, but also teamwork, sportsmanship, and the passion our students bring to these opportunities.”
The Math Team is also making waves, placing fourth at regionals — their best team finish yet — and qualifying for the ICTM state competition on April 26. Students have excelled in both individual and group events, including Geometry, Algebra I & II, and collaborative team rounds.
