OUTLOUD Boston debuts this summer with Kim Petras, Trixie Mattel
A new queer music festival plans to turn up the volume in Boston just in time for Pride Month this summer.
Organizers announced Monday that OUTLOUD Boston will take over The Stage at Suffolk Downs for the first-time ever on June 21. The festivities will be headlined by German pop star Kim Petras, who made history in 2023 for becoming the first openly transgender woman to win a Grammy Award in a major category. Also set to headline is “RuPaul’s Drag Race” star Trixie Mattel, who will spin beats during a DJ set.
“OUTLOUD understands the assignment: queer talent, great music, and hot people,” Mattel said in a press release. “Getting the opportunity to bring that energy to Boston for the first time is such an honor, and I’m so ready to serve on stage.”

The OUTLOUD Boston lineup also includes rapper Flo Milli, Australian singer-songwriter G Flip, and DJ and TV host Hannah Rad, as well as Boston DJ MATH3CA and Bay State artist Big Body Kweeng. Meanwhile, Rebecca Black — the former teen YouTube star behind the infamous “Friday” music video who has transformed into a queer icon as an adult — is slated to perform as well.

The upcoming music fest marks the first East Coast event for OUTLOUD, which describes itself as “the leading LGBTQ+ music brand.” According to a press release, OUTLOUD debuted as a digital-only series in 2020 and has since grown into a live event series that aims to celebrate LGBTQ+ artists and provide a platform for up-and-coming queer performers. The main OUTLOUD Music Festival takes place at WeHo Pride in West Hollywood, with this year’s big event set for May 31 to June 1, featuring performances by Lizzo, Lil Nas X, Paris Hilton, and more.
“In today’s political climate, it’s more important than ever to uplift queer voices and provide a platform for LGBTQ+ artists,” said OUTLOUD founder and executive producer Jeff Consoletti, who originally hails from Boston, in a press release. “Bringing the OUTLOUD Music Festival to my hometown of Boston is a surreal and full circle moment for me, a moment that isn’t lost in today’s climate of hostility towards my LGBTQ community.”
OUTLOUD Boston is co-produced by live event and entertainment agency JJLA, as well as concert promoter The Bowery Presents. Josh Bhatti, senior vice president of The Bowery Presents, said in a press release that his organization is “proud to partner with” OUTLOUD on the event, noting that it “is an important opportunity for us to continue to support and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community in the Boston area, particularly at this time.”
OUTLOUD Boston isn’t the only festival taking over The Stage at Suffolk Downs this year. The Pogues and Dropkick Murphys will headline Seisiún, a new two-day Irish cultural gathering and music fest, at the venue Sept. 6-7.
Pre-sale registration for OUTLOUD Boston is now open on The Bowery Presents website ahead of pre-sale starting at noon on Wednesday. General tickets will start at $69 and go on sale via AXS at 10 a.m. on Friday. For more information, check out outloudmusicfestival.com.
