Gambia delegation attends 2025 World Bank Digital Summit

The three-day summit brought together government and private-sector representatives and partner organisations to explore cutting-edge digital solutions, share insights and foster valuable discussions on the future of digital development in our respective countries.

As part of the activities marking the summit, the Gambian delegation attended series of bilateral meetings and used the opportunity to advocate for increased investment in The Gambia’s school connectivity, including broadband access, digital infrastructure, and last mile connectivity solutions, particularly in rural and underserved areas.

Engagements were held with the World Bank, Sierra Leone delegation on Regional Coordination on 2nd Submarine Cable and GIGA (UNICEF-ITU) with the sole objective of bridging the digital divide that leaves a lot of school-going children with limited access to online educational resources in The Gambia.

Sessions were held in Regional Digital Integration across SAA, Energy Digital Roundtable, Modernising Civil Registration and Identification Systems as well as Digital Public Service Delivery: Global Knowledge Exchange, amongst others. Suffice to state that the summit was resounding success given the strategic outcome the Gambian delegation was able to garner.
