New Delhi: Team India will be travelling to England for a five-match Test series in what will be their next big assignment this year. From June 20 to August 4, the Men in Blue will play the Three Lions in the high-octane Test series which has developed a lot of excitement among fans from the beginning.
Skipper Rohit Sharma has hinted on the inclusion Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah in the series saying that it all depends on how good the duo comes out of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). Rohit on Wednesday said that a fully-fit Shami and Bumrah is a must to give India a good chance in the red-ball series.
‘We need some of these guys (Bumrah, Shami) to be 100 percent fit. I hope they come out of IPL really well, that is the challenging part. I know it’s four overs only but you play today, travel tomorrow, and then you play again, that’s the challenging part. So I hope these two guys along with other guys finish the IPL really well, without concerns and if we have a full fit team in England. We will have a good series,’ he said.
India speedsters Bumrah and Shami are currently featuring in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, where they are featuring for Mumbai Indians (MI) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) respectively. Bumrah last played for the Indian team in the five-Test match series against Australia, where unfortunately he got injured while leading the side in the fifth Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
Meanwhile, Shami played his last Test match in 2023 against Australia in the month of June. The fast bowler missed India’s last tour to Australia since he was on the road to recovery from an injury he got during the ODI World Cup 2023 final.
