‘Unconventional’ Irish designer takes the menswear reins at Dior
A Northern Irish fashion designer has been named as the new artistic director of Dior menswear, ending months of industry speculation that had tipped him to take up the role at the luxury French fashion house.
Jonathan Anderson, 40, was announced by Bernard Arnault, the LVMH chairman and chief executive, at the company’s annual general meeting on Thursday.
In an Instagram post Anderson, who is from Magherafelt, County Londonderry, posted a Dior label accompanied by a four-leaf clover to confirm the news.
Anderson was a top candidate for the job after 11 years at the helm of Loewe, turning the low-key Spanish collection — also owned by LVMH — into a globally renowned household name.
