Krypto Included Among Funko Pops Revealed for James Gunn’s Superman Movie
Everyone’s favorite Super Pet Krypto has received a Funko Pop treatment alongside the Man of Steel ahead of his eagerly anticipated big-screen debut. James Gunn’s Superman, the first feature film in the nascent DCU, will fly into theaters this July featuring the Superdog from Krypton.
In addition to the Krypto and David Corenswet’s Superman vinyl figures, which are based on the character’s designs from the upcoming film, Funko unveiled two more figures inspired by Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor. Available on the Funko website and Amazon starting April 18 to mark Superman Day, the figures cost $11.99 as part of a lineup that includes Jumbo and keychain versions of Superman, for $39.99 and $4.99, respectively. The Funko figures depict Krypto and Superman in flight, Lois striding to the next scoop, and Lex brandishing a Luthorcorp mug.

Excitement for Krypto’s appearance in the DCU increased with the footage DC Studios released at CinemaCon, spotlighting the dog’s rescue of David Corenswet’s Superman. Krypto is fondly based on Gunn’s real-life rescue dog Ozu, the filmmaker and DC co-head has cited a lovable, even if often disruptive, figure in his life.
Krypto, as evidenced by his Funko Pop iteration and major spot in the Superman teasers, is being heavily focused on in the movie’s marketing. Krypto is also a huge part of DC’s Summer of Superman which includes tie-in comic books. Legendary comic book writer Mark Waid is excited to see the dog debut in cinemas and spoke of his importance to the lore and character of Superman.

Brosnahan is well aware of how many talented actors have played Lois before her.
“I never thought I’d live that long. I really didn’t. But the beauty of the fact that people have embraced Krypto just from that trailer appearance makes my heart so warm and so full,” the Kingdom Come writer stated regarding Krypto’s inclusion. “That relationship between a boy and his dog, or a man and his dog, regardless of their level of superpowers is really special. It’s something that really humanizes Superman. I’m anxious to see how they play out.”
Superman Day Arrives
The Funko Pop vinyl figures are only part of DC’s Superman Day celebrations. DC Studios has released an exciting and heartfelt new look at James Gunn’s Superman in a behind-the-scenes video filled with new footage and commentary from the cast and crew of the movie. The Superman BTS video includes Brosnahan showing off the Daily Planet set, costume tests for Hawkgirl and Metamorpho, plus Corenswet and Hoult in costume as Superman and Lex Luthor during a break in shooting.
The Krypto, Superman, Lois Lane, and Lex Luthor Funko figures, inspired by Gunn’s upcoming movie, are available on the Funko website and on Amazon. Superman hits theaters on July 11, 2025.
