Summit High School football team claims victory over Steamboat Springs in homecoming game

The Summit High School football team returned to Climax Molybdenum Field on Friday, Sept. 27, to take on Steamboat Springs High School for the Tigers’ homecoming game.

With the stands packed with students, Tiger football fans and visitors from Steamboat Springs, Summit head coach Paul Lopez tried to lead his team to its second-consecutive win after defeating Aspen High School on the road last week.

Summit challenged the Steamboat Springs Sailors for the majority of the game, coming up huge on defense in the second half. Holding Steamboat Springs to 0 points in the second half and producing four interceptions, Summit was victorious on homecoming, winning 22-21.
