The Science Film Festival encourages free screenings, in person and online, from October to December

The 20th edition of the Science Film Festival – Brazil (SFF) brings to the country, from October 1 to December 20, selected science, technology and environmental films from 22 countries for free screening for children, teenagers and the general public.

In Brazil, the festival has been held on an online platform and in-person sessions since 2019. Performances will be held in Circuito Spín, in São Paulo, and in other Brazilian states, in collaboration with local partners in Rio de Janeiro and Espírito Santo. The event will open on October 1, at 7 p.m., at the Goethe-Institut in São Paulo, with a screening of the film “The Illusion of Abundance” (Belgium), which tells the story of three Latin American women, from Latin America. Tackling the climate crisis is the focus of this year’s event, under the theme of net zero and the circular economy. Net zero is the concept of zero greenhouse gas emissions to address the climate emergency, in light of evidence that reducing carbon dioxide emissions is already insufficient to contain climate change. The Circular Economy theme deploys the necessary actions for the transition by urgently advocating for the sharing, renting, reuse, repair and recycling of products. The theme will be populated with festival editions in 21 countries, plus Brazil. The events are held simultaneously, from October 1 to December 20. In Brazil, Midiativa also holds workshops for children and offers training activities for teachers in media education in science.

The Science Film Festival – SFF Brasil is held in partnership with Mediativa and the Goethe Institute and with the support of Spcine. This year’s edition also enjoys cooperation with the Apicato Association, the Brazilian Network of Children’s Cities and Cebray College.
