Free training for talented athletes at SBP academies: DG Sports

LAHORE   –   Director General Sports Punjab, Khizar Afzaal Chaudhry, announced that the Sports Board Punjab (SBP) will launch new sports academies for various disciplines including football and athletics. Existing academies for cricket, hockey, and other sports will also be revamped for better functionality. Talented athletes will be able to train at these academies free of charge, providing them with top-tier facilities and opportunities. Chaudhry made this announcement during a key meeting at the National Hockey Stadium on Tuesday, where he emphasized the importance of developing young talent across different sports. He also directed that regular sports activities be organized at their respective venues, ensuring consistent practice for athletes in football, athletics, hockey, and other games. The meeting, attended by key officials including Director Admin Dr M Kaleem, Director Sports Rana Nadeem Anjum, and others, also reviewed the performance of coaches from the past year. Chaudhry urged all coaches to submit monthly performance reports and highlighted the need for daily monitoring of sports activities by divisional and district sports officers. In a bid to enhance coaching capabilities, the DG announced that modern sports courses would be conducted at the Punjab Institute of Sports Sciences, which will be made more operational.
