Software engineers, data scientists top the list of professions using AI in 2025
A recent study by ZapCap has identified the professions using AI the most in 2025. According to it, the leading professionals who use AI are Cloud Engineers. Software Engineers, Data Scientists, Customer Support Specialists and Social Media Managers closely follow.
ZapCap’s analysis was built on three key metrics: Google search interest for “AI for [profession],” the percentage of professionals using AI tools (based on survey data), and the number of AI-focused courses available on one educational platform. An AI usage score was calculated by weighting these metrics and normalising the results from 0 to 100 for final rankings.
“While fields like Cloud Engineering and Software Development are already deeply integrated with AI, others are just beginning to harness its full potential,” says Jessica Bui, spokesperson for ZapCap.
“The high search volume from Customer Support and the strong AI adoption among Copywriters show a transformative shift across industries. Professionals must master AI tools to remain relevant in a job market where technological proficiency is no longer optional but essential for career survival,” she added.
Per the rankings, Cloud Engineers lead the list of professions using AI the most in 2025, with 70% of workers using AI tools daily. The field also sees 32 million monthly Google searches for AI-related tools, showing strong interest from professionals.

Customer Support Specialists take fourth place, generating nearly 30 million monthly searches for AI tools (second highest), with 74% of professionals using AI daily. Despite this interest, they have limited access to AI courses, compared to their high usage score of 80.
Social Media Managers rank fifth with 82% of professionals using AI tools daily and generating over 9.5 million monthly searches for AI tools. Their access to 22 specialised courses shows a growing recognition of AI’s impact on digital engagement strategies.
