Maruti Suzuki takes three out of five spots in FY25 MPV sales – Car News

MPV sales have seen 15 percent growth in FY25 compared to FY24, and here are the top five best-selling MPVs.

While SUVs have become popular in India, other segments are seeing decent growth as well, such as MPVs, which make the most sense in a country like India. FY25 saw a total of 4,48,233 MPVs sold, a 15 percent increase over FY24 when 3,89,579 units were sold. Here are the top five sellers.

Top five best-selling MPVs in FY25

The best-selling MPV in FY25 was the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, which has held onto the position for the sixth year in a row. Maruti Suzuki sold 1,90,974 units in FY25, registering over 27 percent growth compared to FY24. The Ertiga is Maruti Suzuki’s first MPV for India and this has proven to be successful for the carmaker. The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is available in petrol and CNG versions. The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga was also the fourth best-selling vehicle in India last month.

Following the Ertiga are the Toyota Innova Crysta and the HyCross combined. The two popular MPVs sold a total of 1,07,204 units in FY25, registering a YoY growth of 9 percent. The Toyota Crysta is a go-to choice for private as well as fleet operators and its ride quality is unmatched in this segment. With the introduction of the HyCross, Toyota has taken the luxury appeal a notch higher and the hybrid technology is something that is shared with Maruti Suzuki as well.

Next up is the Kia Carens, having sold 64,609 units. The Carens became an immediate success for the carmaker and there was a period of time when it even outsold the Crysta. Kia is also gearing up to launch the updated Carens in India, which has been spotted several times in recent days.

Rounding up the top five are the Maruti Suzuki XL6 and the Toyota Rumion, which in essence, are the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. The Nexa-sole XL6 registered sales of 37,111 units while the Toyota Rumion sold 21,878 units in the last financial year. An interesting fact here is that three out of the top five best-selling MPVs in India in FY25 were Maruti Suzuki — Ertiga, XL6, and Rumion.
