Manchester United’s Europa League ambitions will be put to the test in Bilbao tonight in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final against Athletic Club.
A stunning fightback against Lyon two weeks ago kept United in the competition as they desperately try to salvage something from their season.
With the Premier League a write-off, games home and away to Athletic will define their season with a tricky assignment awaiting in the Basque Country tonight.
Athletic played United off the park when they met in this competition 12 years ago – Ruben Amorim’s side cannot let that happen again.
In tonight’s other semi-final game, Tottenham are hosting Bodo/Glimt with an all-English final still a possibility.
