Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, will host a special tribute to veterans at the upcoming film festival. According to an announcement, Grammy-nominated country star Trace Adkins will headline events on Saturday, May 10, during the Gettysburg Film Festival.

Adkins will participate in a screening of the film “Beyond Glory” at 2:30 p.m. at the Gettysburg Area High School Theater, 1130 Old Harrisburg Road, Gettysburg. The film features eight Medal of Honor recipients and stars actor Stephen Lang. Following the screening, Adkins will join Lang and Garry Adelman, chief historian of the American Battlefield Trust, for a discussion on military service.

Before the film, ticketholders can attend an autograph signing with Adkins and Lang from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Proceeds from this event will support nonprofit museums in Gettysburg.

Later that evening, Adkins will perform the National Anthem to open Reflecting on Ike, a tribute event starting at 7 p.m. also at the Gettysburg Area High School Theater. This event will feature Susan Eisenhower and military historian Craig Symonds, followed by a screening of “Ike: Countdown to D-Day.”

The festival will also honor several World War II veterans during its programming. The Gettysburg Film Festival runs from Thursday, May 8, to Sunday, May 11, coinciding with the 80th anniversary of V-E Day (Victory in Europe Day) on May 8. Other headlining guests include Ken Burns, Martin Sheen and members of the cast and crew of Band of Brothers, among others.
