Sheridan HS Girls Soccer Team Qualifies For State Tournament: One year after not qualifying for the state tournament, the Sheridan Lady Broncs Soccer team will play in it this year.
The girls defeated Campbell County at home yesterday 2-1, to clinch the #1 seed for next weekend’s 4A East Regional Tournament.
Since it’s a 7-team bracket, the #1 seed gets a first round bye and as bonus, gets an automatic invite to the state tournament, which starts in 2 weeks.
Junior Parker Treide says one of the strengths of this year’s team is that players are talking to each other through their games, and they’re starting to hear some talk from their various opponents.
The Lady Broncs are now 12-and-oh with 1 tie on the season, and will play their home finale this coming Friday vs. Thunder Basin.
Sheridan HS Boys Soccer: The Sheridan boys won on the road last night against Campbell County 3-zip.
The Broncs got knocked down a peg this past Friday, when they lost to Cheyenne Central.
Both teams are now tied for first in the 4A East, and the Indians control the head-to-head tie-breaker.
Head Coach Wade Kinsey says part of the problem was that Sheridan had not played a road game in more than 1 month, and most of the problems on Friday were not caused by opposition, rather the players did it to themselves.
On the flip side, it’s better to get that first loss out of the way now, instead of in the postseason.
With yesterday’s win, the Broncs now have a record of 10-1 with 2 ties on the season.
The team will conclude their regular season this coming Friday at Thunder Basin.
Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies game yesterday at home vs. Detroit was rained out.
The 2 teams will make it up as part of a double-header tomorrow.
Today’s game starts at 6:40pm.
Denver Nuggets Basketball/NBA Playoffs: The Denver Nuggets will play Game 2 of their Western Conference Semi-Final series today at Oklahoma City.
Tip off is scheduled for 7:30pm.
The Nuggets lead the best of 7 series 1-game-to-none.
So far in the second round of the playoffs, the visiting team has won every game played.
Last night, Indiana stunned Cleveland again 120-119, thanks to a 3 by Tyrese Haliburton with 1 second to go.
The Pacers lead the series 2-zip.
Golden State won Game 1 on the road against Minnesota, 99-88.
The win may have come at cost, as Stephen Curry came up limping in the middle of the 2nd quarter, with a possible hamstring injury.
He’s scheduled to have an MRI today.
NHL Playoffs: Both of the visiting teams won last night in Game 1 of their respective 2nd round series.
Carolina needed a little more than 3 minutes of overtime, to down Washington 2-1.
Edmonton continued their hot streak, as the Oilers doubled up Vegas 4-2.
