Multiple MLS Teams Among Most Valuable Soccer Clubs
Whenever we talk about the most valuable clubs in world football, the same names always find themselves at the top of the list.
Real Madrid
, Manchester United
, FC Barcelona
, Liverpool
and such are the clear big dogs at the top of the sport, raking in billions in revenue every year through ticket sales, sponsorship deals, merchandise and competitive winnings.
England still dominates the sport in terms of following and revenue, with six of the top 10 on the list being Premier League clubs.
But with MLS
gaining traction in the soccer world with the arrival of Lionel Messi
and more superstars with every passing year, North America is turning into a football hotspot.
On Wednesday, Sportico released its annual list of the top 50 most valuable clubs in the world, and to the surprise of many football admirers, Major League Soccer clubs have been climbing the ranks at an extraordinary pace.
Five clubs in the top-20
Five of the top-20 most valuable clubs in the world are in MLS, with Los Angeles FC
leading the way with a $1.28 billion valuation in 2025.

Inter Miami CF
is the second-highest valued MLS club on the list, propelled in recent years by the arrival of Messi and a slew of soccer superstars.
Los Angeles Galaxy
, the reigning MLS Cup champions, are third with a valuation of $1.11 billion.
Nineteen of the top-50 clubs on the list are from Major League Soccer, remarkably making MLS the most well-represented league on Sportico’s list. Austin FC
($865 million) is 23rd on the list, with Seattle Sounders
($825 million) at 25 to round out the MLS clubs in the top-30.
Nashville SC
($640 million) is the lowest of the MLS teams in the top-50, while Toronto FC
($725 million) is the only Canadian club included.
MLS is Big Business
MLS is thriving, and the numbers are proving as much.
According to a report released by Sportico earlier this year, the average MLS club is valued at $721 million, up six percent from last year’s figure. That figure is up an impressive 30 percent since 2022, when the average MLS team was valued at $550 million.
Both league and club sponsorship revenue were up 13 percent at the end of the 2024 season. Unsurprisingly, Lionel Messi’s No. 10 Inter Miami jersey was the best-selling Adidas jersey in the world, and MLS sold more jerseys in 2024 than any other season.
Major League Soccer’s social media channels are also the fastest-growing accounts in North American sports, with TikTok (+26%), YouTube (+21%) and Instagram (+10%) all gaining followers by the boatload in 2024.
