You will be surprised to know that Rs 10 lakh was spent on just one song of this film, released in the 60s, which is not less than 50-100 crores today. People were so desperate to watch this film that they used to stand outside the theater to buy tickets two days in advance. Due to this, there used to be a 5 km long queue of viewers of the theaters. Then such a situation arose that the audience started sleeping on the roads the whole night, and then in the morning, after the ticket window opened, they bought tickets and went to watch the film. This process of buying tickets for this film continued for many days.

About the film

Actually, we are talking about the romantic musical film Mughal-e-Azam, released on 5 August 1960, in which Dilip Kumar and Madhubala played the lead roles. This film was directed by K. Asif, and he was also its producer. K. Asif had spent 1.5 crores on this film. 10 lakh rupees were spent like water on the song ‘Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya’ of the film. This is one of the big-budget films of the 60s. It is said that there was one pearl less for the film, due to which the director stopped the shooting of the film. It is worth noting that Dilip Kumar also did not want to do this film, but the actor agreed after the makers requested him. The songs of the film are still hits, which were composed by Naushad.
