On Monday, May 5th, “The Janice Jam: Broadway for Breast Cancer” took place at New York’s Sony Hall for a great turnout. It benefits the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF).
It was founded by Broadway performer Matt DeAngelis (“Swept Away”) in loving memory of his mother Janice, who passed away from metastatic breast cancer in 2022.
Matt DeAngelis along with a passionate group of friends and Broadway industry colleagues curated an evening of “Celebration, Remembrance, and Awareness.”
The event serves as both a tribute to Janice’s love for theater and a rallying cry for the millions impacted by metastatic breast cancer.
All of the net proceeds support research grants through the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), which is the largest private funder of breast cancer research in the globe.

Brent Comer of “The Outsiders” performed his exceptional “Love Medley,” which featured Maroon 5’s “Sunday Morning,” as well as Billie Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather” and newly-announced Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Cyndi Lauper’s timeless hit “Time After Time.” This medley was well-received by all.
Oscar winner Ariana DeBose (“West Side Story”) nailed her number “(They Long to Be) Close to You.” Maia Reficco (“Hadestown”) was superb on “Evergreen” while Kayla Davion paid tribute to Tina Turner with memorable covers of “The Best” and “Proud Mary.”
Other concert performers included Tami Eagle Bowling, Caroline Bowman (“Smash”), Omar J. Cardona, Bobby Conte, Kayla Davion, Lissa deGuzman, Matt DeAngelis, Nadia DiGiallonardo, Christine Dwyer, Wayne Duvall, Adrian Blake Enscoe, John Gallagher Jr. (“Spring Awakening”), Jeremy Jordan (“Floyd Collins”), and Stark Sands (“Swept Away”), among others.
Overall, every performer at this year’s “Janice Jam” was unique, extremely gifted, and they were able to bring something unique to the table. It was a warm and heartfelt evening of music and entertainment, all while raising money for a noble cause (breast cancer research). Well done.
