Young Musicians perform in recital April 13 | News, Sports, Jobs


RECITAL PARTICIPANTS — Participants in Wheeling’s Young Musicians group took part in this year’s annual recital on April 13 at Vance Memorial Presbyterian Church. Vocal and piano auditions were held April 4-5, with 44 students between the ages of 8 and 18 receiving either a Superior or a Superior with Honors rating, making them eligible to perform in the recital.

WHEELING — The Young Musicians group held its recital April 13 at Vance Memorial Presbyterian Church in Wheeling.

There were 44 students who received a Superior or Superior with Honors rating April 4-5 during auditions. Those students were invited to participate in the recital.

Those who took part in the event included Taryn Dodds, Maylee Laiback, Kami Lee Martin, Lyric Hill, Amelia Bourriague, Peyton Medovic, Kendall McKeegan, Kaya Kolb, Laura Lish, Josie Woods, Colton Gribben, Audrey Kovalski, Marina Dimmick, Tylan Knight, Campbell Horton, Darcy Patt, Nadja Kuntz, Destiny Angelucci, Nolan Powell, Mason Blackstone, Luciano Ciroli, Isabelle Shortall, Chloe Patt, Avery Falbo, Kailyn Trio, Josie Figaretti, Tesla Joseph, Quinn Yoders, Savannah Springer, Rosella Davis, Parker Smith, Morgan Miehle, Ava Dominquez, Zoey Mayberry, Ian Sincovich, Ella Fador, Felicity Lensing, August West, Avery Meester, Jolena Hubbard, Hallie Falbo and Brooke Cox.

Visitors enjoyed performances from those ranging in age from 8 to 18, including piano solos and vocal soloists.

Judges were John Rose for the piano event and Angela Day for voice. Ohio Valley music teachers who entered students into this year’s Young Musicians auditions included Anita Chops, Barbara Daly, Chelsey Keding, Kelsey McBride, Martha McLaughlin, Marie Parker, Paula Ring, Tonie Sivert and Janice Torrance.

Next year, the Young Musicians will hold auditions March 20-21, with the honors recital to take place at 2 p.m. March 29 at Vance Presbyterian Church.

Suzanne McCormick, president of the Thursday Music Club, encouraged all area music students and teachers to save the dates and participate in what will be the 73rd-annual event.
