New Toronto bus service travels to Ontario’s top beach towns
If your calendar has been filling up with summer excursions like mine has, it’s time to start planning how you’ll be travelling to and from your getaway destinations.
But don’t fret because starting May 15 a North American intercity bus service will be launching its seasonal route to connect you right to Ontario’s top beach towns.
FlixBus has announced a new seasonal extension of its Toronto-Owen Sound route to expand service directly to Sauble Beach, Southampton and Port Elgin, “making it easier and more affordable than ever to enjoy a beach getaway this summer,” according to the company.
“With summer travel season just around the corner, we’re thrilled to offer Ontarians and visitors a convenient, sustainable way to reach some of the province’s best-loved beach towns,” Karina Frayter, head of communications at Flix North America, says. “This route extension reflects our commitments to connecting more communities across Canada and giving travellers easy, budget friendly access to top seasonal destinations.”
Operating daily, seven days a week, the new service will link “major hubs” including Toronto Union Station Bus Terminal, Toronto Pearson Airport, Barrie, Wasaga Beach, Collingwood, Blue Mountain Village, Thornbury, Meaford, Owen Sound and South Bruce Peninsula Visitor Centre, along with Sauble Beach, Southampton and Port Elgin, the company says.
Buses are equipped with Wi-Fi and a power outlet at every seat.

And with sunny adventures just ahead, the mayor of the Town of South Bruce Peninsula says he’s “excited” to welcome FlixBus to Sauble Beach.
“This extended route offers a safe and affordable travel option that opens our regions to more visitors and new opportunities. It’s a win for local businesses, residents and tourists alike,” Jay Kirkland says.
Danielle Edwards, manager of economic development and corporate communications for the Town of South Bruce Peninsula echoes the mayor adding that “expanding access to Sauble Beach and neighbouring communities through this new FlixBus route aligns with our ongoing efforts to boost tourism and enhance regional connectivity.”
At this time, a ticket to Sauble Beach from Toronto’s Union Station will cost around $37 and getting to Southampton and Port Elgin will cost around $39.
Aside from beach towns, other popular cities in Ontario that FlixBus travels to include Niagara Falls, Hamilton, Mississauga, Sudbury, London, Kitchener and Ottawa. Their network also runs in Europe, the United States, Chile, Brazil and India.
