After all, the French fragrances are legends among their peers, and it’s rare to find a perfume-lover who doesn’t have at least one Dior scent they can wax poetic about.

Why I love it: I can’t remember a time when my perfume collection didn’t have at least one bottle of J’Adore Dior. I started adoring the scent, as one typically does, via its original version. Released in 1999, the OG J’Adore blends solar and floral notes, including ylang ylang, rose, and jasmine. Its iconic bottle looks like it’s wearing a golden Dior necklace, and it didn’t hurt that my idol, Charlize Theron, was the face of the scent for some 20 years.

My obsession du jour, however, is J’Adore Dior L’Or Essence of Perfume. Francis Kurkdjian, Dior’s perfume creative director, gave the original scent a softer, more sunbathed vibe with this iteration of the classic. Released in 2023, it opens with sweet notes of orange blossom before diving into a bouquet of jasmine and rose; there are also subtle notes of coconut and mango. To me, this smells like a beach club in Saint Tropez, with a soundtrack of Rihanna (the new face of J’Adore). It’ll be the scent I reach for when I want to feel like I’m basking in the golden glow of a summer sunset.

Why I love it: Miss Dior Parfum smells like saying yes to a dream date, and then dressing—and smelling—the part. Maybe it’s the couture bow decking the bottle cap, maybe it’s the way wild strawberries and starry jasmine collide to smell like lovestruckness, or maybe it’s that the color of the juice looks like a shy blush.
