Hyundai Motor has hit a major milestone in its global journey, rolling out its 100 millionth car.

The landmark model, an IONIQ 5 electric car, was produced today at the company’s Ulsan facility in South Korea.

This achievement comes after almost six decades since Hyundai started its production in 1968.

The company, which is also the second largest automaker in India, celebrated this occasion with a special ceremony at its Korean plant.

Hyundai’s journey from Cortina to Ioniq 5

Hyundai kicked off its production adventure by putting together the Cortina, a car made in partnership with Ford Motor.

The first car they made all by themselves at the Ulsan facility? That would be the Pony, which was launched back in 1975.

Fast forward to today, and Hyundai is making waves in major markets like the US, Europe, Asia, and Australia.

Their TUCSON SUV has become a global favorite, with over two lakh units selling in 2023 alone.

Hyundai’s journey in India and future electric plans

Hyundai has been a part of the Indian driving scene since 1996, kicking things off with the Santro hatchback.

The CRETA SUV is their best-seller here, and it’s already crossed the one lakh sales mark this year.

Other crowd favorites are the VENUE, EXTER, and ALCAZAR SUVs, along with the i20 and i10 hatchbacks, and AURA and VERNA sedans.

Right now, the IONIQ 5 is the solo electric ride in Hyundai’s India lineup.
